Great experience and a great service,
I bought this sim card before my trip to Australia so that I would have a number that my family could contact me on. I’ve never been overseas before so this was a new experience for me. Lebara contacted me within a few days of my order to let me know what to do when I received my new SIM card. I also bought an unlocked phone, which I would recommend.
After I received the card, I followed the instructions and got my account activated online with no trouble at all. I had $30 worth of credit and it was ready to go.
When I arrived in Sydney, I was able to make calls right away which was handy because my friend was meeting me at the airport and I was able to call him and let him know I had landed. I was also able to call my folks and let them know that I had arrived safely. After a few days I still had a lot of credit even though I had been making a good number of calls. Luckily I had read the stuff that Lebara set through so I understood that the billing system in Australia is not what I’m used to back home, and accessing the call records and charges for each call was easy.
At the end of the first week I still had a bit of credit left but I wanted to recharge my account. I was unable to use my US credit card but I called the customer service people who were very helpful and they recommended that I go to my local convenience store and purchase a voucher. From there I was able to recharge online.
Everything was very easy and straight forward with this company, no hidden charges or weird fees, just easy and handy. I highly recommend Lebara, the service is great, I never had trouble with coverage or calls dropping, the calls are cheap and this one thing that you don’t want to worry about when you travel overseas. Having good communication is extremely important and these guys delivered.

Day 1 in Australia – Got my lebara sim card activated for phone and data use. Started with $30 sim card.
Day 2 – Called several local merchants from Sydney and had 5 min conversations cause the phone call would drop off everytime. Internet service was scarce and hard to recieve a strong signal, unless you are standing in front of a store front that sells Lebara products.
Day 3 – Phone txt stating I have $1.80 left on my credit. I made very few calls and compalained about my dropped calls to the represetatives. Useless represetatives for the most part. Theyre outsourced to India and we all know how great the service is there. Robot responses.
Day 4 – Bought unlimited local and txt for $39.99 for the month. Still the billing dept charged me for local calls, luckily got an Australian representative to help me rectify that discrepancy.
Everyday since day 4-15 struggling to get a data signal and on some occassions a phone signal. I was in large metro cities in Australia the entire time. And no its not my phone in case some are shaking their heads.
Point bieng, I will never use Lebara again. Granted their rates are low but the old saying goes “You get what you pay for.”
